Him and her hat lights

These pendants are a bit of fun if you fancy lightening the mood.  The elegant feminine affair is designed by Mars Hwasung Yoo from Eno Studio and comes with a range of different colour flexes to choose from for maximum statement effect.

And this Jeeves Bowler Hat Pendant light from Rockett St George is great fun.  Designed by Jake Phipps Jeeves (honest) I love the felt finish with gold metal lining. There is also a Wooster version apparently (although at time of writing it was not showing up on the site).

Pick and mix lights

I love these gorgeous lights from rothschildbickers.com.  Called Pick and Mix they come in green, teal, grey, blue, orange and gold.  What's more you can choose your flex from a variety of wonderful colours.  I fancy the grey with neon pink flex.  Better save up then - they cost £295 each (although this does include postage and VAT).

Upcycling's the word

If you love this current trend then take a look at some of these sites.  Upcycling takes jaded, unwanted furniture and breathes a fresh lease of life into it - often creating unique talking points in the process.  I particularly love the Sundae chairs on Humblesticks.  You've got to be quick though - since most of the items are one offs, it can be a case of right place right time.

How to lean art

Call me lazy, but I'm a great fan of leaning your artwork.  So I liked this article I stumbled across on Apartment Therapy which has top tips on how to do it (without it looking like you forgot to hang it). No nails, no stress, instant satisfaction.  Brilliant.

Weather-worn walls, indoors

If you are into the current trompe l'oeil wallpaper trend, Rocket St George have a fantastic range.  I particularly like these weather-worn textured wood wallpapers from Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek. There are eight in the range and although a little pricey (at £199 per roll) they can create a lovely feature if used sparingly.  Less is definitely more in my opinion.

Cult furniture outlet online

Have just come across another great site for classic design furniture - cultfurniture.com - certainly does what it says on the tin.  With a strapline of 'the home of affordable modern design furniture' you can certainly get your hands on some top design items at great prices. I'd be careful not to over-do design cliches though - a few of these pieces go a long way!

Moroccan monochrome

I like these morocco inspired tiles from Tons of Tiles.  Called Marrakesh Black Decor they offer an affordable option for an aged eclectic look - at £29.56 per square metre.  They are clever too - they are 33x33cm in size suitable for walls or floors but they are scored to create a traditional 10 x 10 tile, so save the hassle of laying individual small tiles.   Your tiler will thank you.

House plants are back

I liked this article on Mad about the House.  So you have it on good authority that house plants are back. It's official.  I have to admit to not having green fingers, and any plants I have previously owned have been of the scrawny, dusty variety, but I think some of the pictures from this article are beautiful.  And what about this fabulous living herb wall for the kitchen. Good looking and practical for the foodies amongst us.  Genius.

Pendant lighting industrial style

Look at these beautiful pendant lights from Aditi Studios.  I want them.  All of them.  Each light is hand sculptured using traditional, environmentally friendly methods and there are 3 styles to choose from - the Flying Scotsman, the Laerdal and the I/O.  Not cheap, starting from £435 but since each piece is individual, you'll have them for life.  My favourite is the delicate vintage floral version - industrial chic turned romantic.

Pink doesn't have to be twee

I love some of these colour ideas on this Apartment Therapy blog post... Calm and beautiful especially combined with greys and browns, I think pink is vastly underused.  These two are my favourites...
